Welcome to Vancouver and meet a beautiful city that’s wrapped in a rainforest, where the Coast Mountains meet the Pacific Ocean, and with a walkable cosmopolitan city in the middle.

You can reset your soul with a forest walk in Stanley Park, hike or bike the trails of the North Shore, get some sand between your toes at Kits Beach or hop an AquaBus to Granville Island. Then dine out under Michelin-awarded stars.

Vancouver is a young city on an ancient land that’s rich with history and tradition. We are the gateway to the province of British Columbia and Canada’s gateway to the Asia Pacific.

Incorporated as city in 1886, Vancouver sits on the traditional, unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations who have been the stewards of these lands since time immemorial.

With a population of just under 700,000 (and 2.7 million in the larger Metro Vancouver region), Vancouver is one of Canada’s most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities. Fifty-two per cent of residents have a first language other than English.

The city’s economy has transformed from being largely resource based to a more diverse range of industries including tourism, film and television production, green building design and construction, and a global hub for high tech, VFX, animation and virtual reality.

Vancouver ranks consistently as one of the world’s top cities for liveability and quality of life.
